Contesting a will or a trust is a very specialized area of law. It requires knowledge of estate planning and trusts, but also litigation expertise. It is important to have a law firm that has experience in handling these matters on your side. Brian Stutheit has decades long experience with probate and trust disputes and litigation. Stutheit & Gartland charges less for trust and estate litigation than the big law firms, but our experience is every bit as good. Many large law firms will pass probate and trust clients on to an associate attorney who is less skilled and experienced. We never do that.
Many estate disputes arise from blended family situations, or when the decedent marries or takes a partner late in life. These disputes are seldom one-sided. Clients need a lawyer who can tell them early on how easy or difficult the fight may be, and how much it will cost. Only experienced lawyers can do that. Young associates working for big firms probably can’t.
